How do you say : I forget ? Is it 我忘了？

What about : I won't forget. Is it right to say 我不会忘记 ?

Is there any difference between :     忘  and 忘记？

I forgot. 我忘了

"I won't forget"is true.

There no difference between 忘and忘记。

"I forget" is 我忘记。  There are many other words besides "忘记“ which describes the meaning of "forget"， they are 忘记，忘掉，忘怀, etc.

for example:
我决不会忘记做作业： Absolutely, I won't forget do homework.
我忘了昨天的电影是什么题目。I forgot the name of yesterday's film.

I forgot = 我忘了
I forget = 我忘记

For example:
A: Did you do you bring your homework
B: 我忘了!

AND

A: Which planet is bigger, Jupiter of Saturn?

B:  我忘记

 

Can a native speaker confirm my usage?
