Can someone help me choose a Chinese name?

I have been learning Chinese for about six months. My Chinese teacher gave me a name (賴欣洋). I like the name but it is very different from my real English name (which is pronounced "first: John last: Ray-doff"). In your experience, what is the usual convention for American businesspeople in China? Do most (amogst those learning to speak Chinese) choose names that are similar to their real names, or do they choose totally different names? I am traveling to China on business for the first time in June and would like to decide what to put on my business card. Thanks!
